The two mechanical oscillators have the same natural frequency of
oscillation, so m1 /k1 and
m2 /k2 are the same. (Remember: m
plays the role of L, and 1/k plays the role of C).
Since the total energy U is the same for both oscillators, the
maximum K.E. and the maximum P.E. are both equal to U. Thus
and since we are given that m1 and m2 are different, the maximum velocities must be different.
