Quiz on Coulomb's law: questions 1, 2 and 3

Sorry, graphics only

(1) FALSE
Annihilation occurs when a particle and its antiparticle interact, not simply two particles of opposite charge. The result of annihilation is not "pure energy". For example, electron-positron annihilation produces two photons. We will have more to say about antiparticles in the part of the course dealing with modern physics.

(2) TRUE
The negatively charged electrons of an atom in ordinary neutral matter are exactly balanced by the positively charged protons in the nucleus.

(3) FALSE
"Static cling" is caused by the Coulomb force between two dissimilar materials that have acquired opposite electric charge through friction. It doesn't matter what kind of dryer you use.
