Minutes of the E895 meeting Graduate Chemistry Rm 403, SUNY Stony Brook Monday 10/2/95 Attending: MG - Mark Gilkes RM - Bob McGrath RL - Roy Lacey JA - John Alexander CM - Clyde Morton JL - Jerome Lauret EL - Erwan LeBras PC - Paul Chung AJ - N. Ajitanand RS - Rulin Sun RM - I would like to introduce Clyde Morton, a new postdoc from Canberra, Australia who joins us this week. TPC: ==== MG - On Friday last the gas handling system was delivered to BNL. It was the quietest day of the year at Brookhaven - the last day of the fiscal year. Many AGS employees had taken their vacation. Larry and I were on hand to receive it, but no riggers were available. However the delivery truck had a lift gate, so that we could unload it on to a trolley and wheel it over close to its final position. I talked with Leigh Hawkins about the work he plans to do on it, and suggested that a good place to install it would be next to the boom arm, on the other side of the fence from the stick power supplies. MG - Erwan and I worked on the fiber optics cables Saturday night, readying them for laying in the cable tray. We separated them into four bunches, one per sector. Tomorrow or Thursday I plan to lay the fiber optics and perhaps the MUSIC cables also. I am tempted to lay only three bunches for now, and reserve the fourth for completing the run to the TPC. We can lay the fourth bunch when the fiber optics arrive. TARGET ASSEMBLY: ================ MG - I think we will need to purchase some BC 408 or something similar for the ST scintillator, in various thicknesses. The ST scintillator that I have right now is crazed, and is probably also the wrong thickness. The thinner ST may still be at LBNL, but we should make up a new one. MUSIC: ====== MG - Joe tells me that the endcap stands are ready. Larry is trying to locate a pump. There have been no riggers available recently to move the MUSIC pallet out of the way. However, next week we expect things to start moving. SOFTWARE: ========= MG - Marvin arrives later this week. He will continue with his work on the DAQ, and other software projects. The MPS power shutdown will happen on Thursday, and may continue into early next week. I will shut down the computers on Wednesday night. Prepared by: Mark Gilkes
