Minutes: E895 meeting at LBNL, 27th January 1998, prepared by GR GR: News Items: It is pleasure to welcome Jerry Chance to the LBNL group. He is temporarily employed as a postdoc for the next three months and will be working on MUSIC data. After Nathan has 'cleaned up' the incoming directory, Jerry has kindly offered to help out with minimal CVS service. This should allow people to make the transition to self-regulation (as discussed at UCD) less painful. Annual reports are due 16th February. Dan offered a contribution from UCD. Data Processing: Pentium farms are currently running 8 A GeV central trigger data. (2Dv1.20, BFT v 4.40) PDSF (SUN) 4 A GeV Au+Au central triggger with MUSIC output and latest t0 calibration files from Chris (2D v1.20,BFT v4.4) PDSF (HP) 4 A GeV Au+Be data with MUSIC output. Latest t0 files (2D v1.20, BFT v4.4) 13th Pentium Machine added to the cluster and is now online. It is also the software server node, relieving KSTAR4. Pending a package from OSU, eight selected histograms are being generated in PASS1 for quality control. Comments are welcomed. Data Analysis: Dicussion of Heng's flow results. GR, Roy and Chris have talked in order to understand the SUNY, LBNL differences. At first sight we (Heng and GR) believe the two analysis are very similar. Two pontential differences are a) PID and b) efficiency correction methods. Chris's ntuples (after PID) are available, as well as his PID routine from incoming. Heng uses the fourier method to correct the reaction plane angle while Chris uses the efficiency correction in weighting method to calculate reaction plane angle. Heng is looking into possible differences here. Dan might get a hold of Chris's ntuples and help out. UCD uses Heng's PID but SUNY-style efficiency correction. Heng's QM'95 write-up is available. GR prefers to sort out the differences between the various flow analysis before submission. Manuscript deadline is 31st. We all agreeded to work up to the last minute to resolve the issue. The write-up is being circulated in its current form for comments. If we cannot find the source of the difference by 31st Jan, the collaboration must be prepared to suggest a suitable compromise. To view the manuscript the URL is http://www-rnc.lbl.gov/~hengliu/qm97.ps Heng confirms Ollitrault's corrections are indentical to Voloshin's method Chris suggested Tapes # 200,201,202 for the btf/jft comparison. We agree. UCD has copied one file and will run that file on their HPs with using both trackers and the latest code. Is there any agreement on tapes for 8 A GeV. Mike ? Music update from Jerry and Juan. Music calibration files given the seal of approval Action Items: 1) Get account account on HPSS (Done) 2) Get QM'95 text to collaborators (Done) 3) Export home/common to pentium farm. GR will talk to Tina (PDSF) 4) Get MUSIC track matcher operational by next week
